The bout was held in Yankee Stadium, New York in the eve of the World War II and it had political color - democratic freedom America against Nazi Germany, although Schmeling was never a Nazi. Max Schmeling was down two times before final knockdown in the first round. It was broadcast by radio to millions of listeners throughout the world, but Germans cut broadcast before the fight was stopped.
